Summer Baroque in the Trees is a concert series that grew from a desire to keep performing during the Covid-19 pandemic. We learned that it was safer to attend events outside – and Summer Baroque in the Trees was born! This year there are two concerts in the series. The 2nd concert features the ensemble Contrapunctus.

Contrapunctus is an ensemble dedicated to the performance of the virtuoso instrumental music of the 17th and 18th Centuries. It’s members have collaborated in many concerts over the past decade, and have come together to promote the vast amount of wonderful repertoire that was written for various combinations of strings, wind instruments, and continuo. Performing on historical instruments, the ensemble aims to bring the lively timbres, colours and historical style of the time to its audiences. For this occasion, we are moving into repertoire of the Eighteenth century with a mix of dances, outdoor music and more intimate pieces, featuring some of the more unusual combinations of instruments including the Baroque Horn, Violin, Oboe, Recorder and Bassoon.
Please bring your own lawn chair.
There will be a 20 minute intermission where refreshments will be served.
